  • More and more Americans are discovering the convenience and speed of Social Security's online services. The Social Security website, www.socialsecurity.gov, offers online services for people applying for benefits, people already receiving benefits, employers, and those who are just seeking information about programs the agency administers. Instead of traveling to the local Social Security office, many people are going online to our website and filing for retirement, disability or spouses benefits from the comfort of their own home or office. In addition, those already receiving benefits can request benefit verification letters or even change their address if they receive Social Security benefits.
  • Clicking this link: http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/10121.pdf will bring you to a fact sheet: "What You Can Do Online". We ask that you share this with those in your agency and with your clients. We believe that people of all ages can take advantage of our website and save a trip or a phone call to the Social Security office.
  • Clicking this link: http://www.ssa.gov/prescriptionhelp/ will bring you to a webpage that provides information for Medicare beneficiaries and advocates about the "Extra Help" program that Social Security administers. If you know of a Medicare beneficiary who might qualify, visit our electronic leaflet at http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10506.htm for more information.
  • Social Security is launching this expedited decision process with a total of 50 conditions.  Over time, more diseases and conditions will be added.  A list of the first 50 impairments -- 25 rare diseases and 25 cancers -- can be found at www.socialsecurity.gov/compassionateallowances.
